Observation and Analysis of Gyeongpo Beach Erosion using Virtual Reference System

Abstract
"The Gyeongpo beach is one of the most popular beaches in South Korea and it is located at the eastern area in Korea peninsular. On July 2012, unexpected coastal erosion phenomenon was occurred in this area. In this study, we accomplished change monitoring of beach width and beach area using Virtual Reference System to investigate effects of beach erosion in the Gyeongpo beach. The comparison with the coastal erosion monitoring data which are acquired by VRS service indicated that the suddenly erosion in Gyeongpo beach on July 2012 was not laying on a high risk situation but temporal unknown event. The correlation coefficient between beach width and beach area in study area was showed a positive correlation, compare with the correlation coefficient between width and area through difference calculating of next epoch data from priori epoch one."
