Abstract
Suction foundation is representative offshore structure foundation, which is easily installed by the differential pressure created by pumping water out of pile. To estimate the penetration resistance of the suction foundation is very important, but there is no verified numerical method to evaluate the penetration resistance continuously along the whole penetration depth considering the effective stress reduction induced seepage into the pile inside. In this paper, the numerical analysis, which was discretized by penetration depth for simulating the continuous modeling, was proposed and the comparison with the previous research results was conducted.
Key Words: suction foundation; installation; seepage; effective stress; numerical analysis
