Abstract
This study investigate the characteristic of the marine litter drift in Yellow Sea using an assimilated high resolution global ocean predicting model, 1/12o Global HYbrid Coordinate Ocean Model (HYCOM). A random walk particle tracking method is applied in order to find the path pattern of the marine litter in Yellow Sea. Around the Yellow sea, particles are released at 12 locations for every months from 2008 to 2009. As a result, it is found that the beached litter in the southwestern coast of Korea are mainly oriented from the domestic release. However, on the rare occasions, the china-originated litter also beached at the coast of Korea.
Key Words: Marine litter; Yellow Sea; Numerical simulation; HYCOM
